With a population just north of 11,000, Broomall is a census-designated place (CDP) that was named after its post office, which itself was named in honor of a 19th-century congressman from the Broomall area. Other personalities from Broomall include Danny Bonaduce of “The Partridge Family” fame, and David Miscavige, the controversial leader of the Church of Scientology. The Thomas Massey House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is perhaps Broomall’s most famous attraction. The brick and stone colonial structure was partially built by Quaker Thomas Massey in 1696. The home is open for public tours on Sundays.
